Introducing Burt Lancaster, ex-G.I., circus acrobat, and Broadway discovery, to movie audiences in the role of "Swede," pugilist who turns gangster and racketeer, Hellinger accomplishes both a scoop in personality discovery and a memorable fight sequence.
