The Big Fight, one of the news photographers' favorite subjects, as seen in Mark Hellinger's production of "The Killers," is incidental to the principle events of that Hemingway story - yet Producer Hellinger filmed his brief ringside scenes with shattering realism. Introducing Burt Lancaster, ex-G.I., circus acrobat, and Broadway discovery, to movie audiences in the role of "Swede," pugilist who turns gangster and racketeer, Hellinger accomplishes both a scoop in personality discovery and a memorable fight sequence. Here Lancaster takes a body blow from the assailant who convinces "Swede" it's time to hang up his gloves. Lancaster co-stars with Edmond O'Brien and Ava Gardner in the film.
