A "Hurdy-Gurdy" pianola jukebox advertising the film "Coney Island" at the Uptown Theater at 37th and Broadway, Kansas City, Mo., 1943, Digitizing agency: University of Missouri--Kansas City. Library. Dr. Kenneth J. LaBudde Special Collections., Note on photo: A early-day juke box!! As a contribution to the authentic Coney Island atmosphere in music we secured an old "Hurdy-Gurdy Pianola" for the Uptown lobby. We played it for a week in advance and during the engagement on the breaks of the shows. It attracted a great deal of attention especially from the younger generation who had never seen the grandaddy of the juke-box.
