SPRR loading Sea-Land containers on the first production run of double stack container cars. After prototyping in 1977 and 1979. SPRR ordered 42 5 unit double stack container cars from ACF which were delivered in 1981 for train service for Sea-Land where the loads came into LA destined to Houston, Barbours Cut and New Orleans with empties and export containers moving to Oakland. Sea-Land signed a 10 year contract with SPRR.
