Contestants 1 through 5 stand on stage during the swimsuit portion of the Miss America Preliminary Contest, for the Miss Raytown 1973 held at Raytown South High School in Raytown, Missouri. Farthest to the left, Bonnie Kay Hall (1) wears a teal one-piece, scoop-neck swimsuit with a diamond pattern woven into the fabric and matching shoes. To her left, Marta Lynn Leader (2) wears a white, v-neck, one-piece swimsuit with white sandals. To her left, Nancy L. Ulshafer (3) wears a pink, scoop-neck, one-piece swimsuit. To her left, Lisa Cole (4) wears a red, v-neck, one-piece swimsuit. Farthest to the right, Pamela Ann Shiel (5) wears a coral, shiny, v-neck, one-piece swimsuit and her eyes are closed. All contestants wear their blue and white contestant number ribbons attached to their swimsuits on their left hips.
