Description
Contestant 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 stand in front of a Patricia Stevens agency banner that hangs behind them on silver lamé drapes wearing one-piece swimsuits during the Miss Boating 1982 pageant. Their contestant number cards are attached to their swimsuits on their left hips except for contestant 8 who wears hers on her right hip. Farthest to the left, contestant 6 wears a purple, one-piece swimsuit with a ruffle around the top of the bodice and a spaghetti strap around her neck and white sandals. To her left, contestant 7, Melanie Derr, wears a necklace of one gem, earrings, a square-neckline swimsuit with raspberry, white, violet, white alternating stripes outlining the neckline and straps and then a raspberry bodice, and brown open-toes shoes. To her left, contestant 8 wears a red, v-neck swimsuit with a rainbow from right body top to low body left with a white swan swimming on the navy blue water below the rainbow, a gold necklace, and taupe open-toed shoes. To her left, contestant 9 wears a black swimsuit with spaghetti straps that meet in the middle of the bodice and form a "V" up to the shoulders and black pumps. To her left, contestant 10 wears a black swimsuit with horizontal stripes of turquoise, purple and black across the bodice. A spaghetti strap attaches to each side of the bodice and continues around her neck. The swimsuit is gathered by drawstrings that end at the top of each leg in a bow. She wears black sandals. The show was held at the Kansas City Trade Mart in the downtown airport, Kansas City, Missouri. This photograph was taken at the Patricia Stevens Studio.
